The messy world of counter-terrorism
No one expects counter-intelligence to be a linear, inside-the-box kind of business. Notwithstanding the Bush Administration's incubation of a robust terror eco-system during the years following 9/11 through misguided and illegal policies, it is now clear to me that we must "finish the job" in Afghanistan and Pakistan before our Moloch comes back to haunt us. Even so, Informed Consent gives us a pretty damning list of counter-terrorism fumbles for 2010. My personal favorites are the illegal FBI wiretapping and the banning of teddy bears for kids during the last hour of flights in response to the would-be underwear bomber.
