Constantine's Sword documentary goes long

PASADENA, Calif. -- Constantine's Sword is a meandering quest of a former priest who explores the connection of Christianity to the centuries-long persecution of Jews in Europe in a personal documentary.

What at first struck me as an undisciplined narrative became more unified as Mr. Carroll merged his personal history and church/jewish history to the present infiltration of evangelical hardliners into the officer corps of the U.S. Air Force.

The sad eyed Shoah survivor in Poland, who gives tours of a Jewish cemetery was almost too heart wrenching to watch. Easier to watch was the incredible mendacity of the Reverend Ted Haggard, who worked aggressively to indoctrinate airmen at the Air Force Academy into following the End of Times party line. That the preacher turned out to be smoking meth and giving blow jobs to a local drug dealer while spouting the Republican Party line was less shocking than the fact that his followers couldn't figure out that he was a closeted gay.
